EMF migration conference 2009
26-27 June 2009 in Frankfurt
The event will provide an opportunity to consider the trade union response to current European union policies. National examples as well as sector related cases will be presented and the challenges for trade unions when organising workers will also be discussed.
This event will contribute towards an increased awareness of the impacts of labour migration among metalworking trade unions. It will also help to ensure that there is a strong focus on this issue in the EMF as well as those of affiliated unions.
EMF Conference on Labour Migration
Background
In June 2009 the European Metalworkers’ Federation is organising its first conference on labour migration. The event provides the opportunity to discuss trade union responses to European Union policies on migration. National examples as well as sector-related cases of migration will be presented and the challenges for trade unions when organising migrant workers will be also highlighted. The aim of this event is to increase awareness among metalworking trade unions of the impacts of labour migration and to ensure the issue stays high on the EMF’s and its affiliates’ agendas.
