Save or sink?
Save or sink? What future for shipbuilding in Europe?
Conference in the European Parliament on the Future of Shipbuilding in Europe
On 24 June 2010 the EMF cooperates once more with the shipbuilders’ association CESA in the organization of a shipbuilding conference in the European Parliament.
The main aim of the conference is to call for a European Emergency Programme in aid of the crisis-stricken shipbuilding sector.
As the global economic crisis continues to deeply affect the European shipbuilding industry and employment in this sector the major stakeholders in Europe continue to mobilize national and European policy makers.
This conference is supported by the President of the European Parliament, Jerzy Buzek, and is hosted by MEPs from the main political groups S&D, EPP and ALDE.
For more information please contact Andrea Husen-Bradley, EMF Senior Adviser.
Save or sink? What future for shipbuilding in Europe?
“Failure by Europe and its Member States to act now would deal a deathly blow to shipbuilding in Europe” pleaded Heino Bade, chairman of the European Metalworkers’ Federation (EMF) shipbuilding committee at today’s shipbuilding conference in the European Parliament.
