EMF supports Serbian Gradac factory workers

The EMF has been informed by Serbian affiliate, GSM Nezavisnost, of the very difficult situation faced by workers of Gradac screws factory in Valjevo, Serbia.
The workers have not been paid wages or social and health insurance benefits for the past eight months. Further more, the working conditions at the factory are extremely poor. The workers have started strike actions as well as a hunger strike to demand and protect their basic rights.
The EMF fully supports GSM Nezavisnost and Gradac factory workers in their struggle and has called on Serbian Government to address this situation and assure fair privatisation for Serbian companies and security for workers.
