Creating a counterweight and innovatory force for European workers
To celebrate the 40 year anniversary of the European Metalworkers’ Federation (1971 - 2011), the EMF has published a book that provides an overview of the history of the organisation.
The EMF’s history acts as a spur to the continued commitment towards Europe and to the fight for a social Europe.
A trade union look at the Lift Sector
The EMF & ETUI publication 'A trade union look at the Lift Sector' is now available in both English and French.
The publication includes three sections:
- The challenges facing European workers in the Lifts Sector
- Overview of EMF/ETUI cooperation for safety in lifts
- Position paper on Single Person working in lift construction
EMF Handbook on Communications
The EMF has published a Handbook on Communication. The purpose of the Handbook is to provide inspiration and support to trade union communicators around Europe. However, it does not only target trade unions in the metalworking industry, but can be used by other industries, as well as by partners in civil society.

Collective Bargaining Collection DVD
The EMF has produced a DVD entitled 'Collective Bargaining Collection', which includes the EMF film 'Precarious Work - Precarious Lives', as well as documentation on collective bargaining.
Milestones Supplement 2005-2009
In 2006 the EMF published the Milestones Book, which provides a complete history of EMF Collective Bargaining Policy work.
Today the EMF publishes the Supplement, which covers the period since then. The Supplement is available here for dowload in English, German and French.
The New EWC Directive
2009/38/EC
In a new joint publication the industry federations (EMF, EMCEF, ETUF-TCL, UNI Europa, EPSU, EFFAT, EFBWW and ETF) provide recommendations on negotiating during the transposition period (5 June 2009 to 5 June 2011).
Best Practice Catalogue of Organising Methods in the European Metalworking Industry
In 2009 the EMF conducted a project on organising. This best practice catalogue is the result and is available for download in English, German and French.
EMF Second Common Demand
The EMF Collective Bargaining Policy Conference 2009 launched the 2nd Common Demand: “For more secure employment, against precarious work”, which will be included in the collective bargaining demands of all its 75 affiliated trade unions and in future collective bargaining rounds throughout Europe over the next four years.

First EMF Common Demand: The individual right to training guaranteed by collective agreements.
EMF in mini format
In September 2009 the EMF published a new brochure in mini-format available in English, German and French.
The brochure describes EMF policy work and includes the important discussion on the economic crisis and its impact on the metalworking industry.
