Demonstration at Philips, Turkey
Demonstrations have taken place in November at Philips in the Gebze Organized Industrial Zone, where the company is located.
The Philips Group declared that it will close the company because Philips Turkey could not achieve an amount of 40 milion dollars production volume. This means that 150 jobs are cut in Philips Turkey. Birlesik Metal-Is made an action to show the resistance against the decision. Philips workers warned the management that they will continue their actions until the decision to close the site as been changed.
On 19 December the protests continued.

Strike at Polish factory of Dong Yang Electronics in Korea
Since October 16th about 200 workers of Dong Yang Electronics (LG brand) in Mlawa, Poland, have been on strike. So far the management has illegally terminated labour contracts with the trade union leader in the company and about 180 striking workers, hiring new ones in their stead.

Manifestation des Ford Bordeaux Salon Mondial de l'Auto a Paris le 04.10.2008
Nous étions 600 environs avec des élus de la région Aquitaine, une délégation de GM Strasbourg et une délégation de Renault.
Il y a eu plusieurs interventions ensuite nous sommes allé au stand de Ford pendant 1 heure, au Stand Renault, au Stand GM et au Stand TF1 crier haut et fort, notre mécontentement, nos revendications jusqu'à 16 h.
Une formidable journée solidaire et plein de dynamisme fraternel de nos camarades de Ford Bordeaux.
Un très bel exemple à suivre !

Environ 300 salariés du Bureau d’Etudes et d’autres secteurs se sont rassemblés hier devant la Direction pendant le CCE extraordinaire, pour qu’une
délégation de 5 salariés volontaires directement impactés par la filialisation soit
reçue.
Around 300 employees from the Bureau d'Etudes and other sectors rallied in front of the management building while an extraordinary EWC meeting took place. They wanted to have a delegation of 5 determined employees, all of whom had been directly affected by the setting up of the subsidiary, met by management.

On 29 July, Ms. Russo and Mr. Tchuruk announced their decision to leave Alcatel-Lucent by the end of 2008. Despite their rhetoric, their departures are, in our view, an admission of failure. If business was healthy, they would have no reason to leave.
The action is ongoing in 8 countries and supported by 17 trade unions.

Strike in Greece after the death and injury of several shipyard workers
The Greek metalworkers union, POEM, carried out a three hour strike on 28 July in order to express the anger and indignation of all Greek metalworkers over the death of eight and injury of four workers at a shipyard in Perama, Pireus on 24 July.
