Violation of basic democratic and trade union rights in Turkey

Dear Sirs,

The European Metalworkers’ Federation (EMF) is the representative body defending the interests of 5.5 million workers and their unions in the European metal industry.

We have been following the situation of workers’ and trade union rights violations in Turkey for some time now and with increasing concern.

The EMF condemns the arrest of trade union demonstrators

The European Metalworkers’ Federation (EMF) strongly disapproves of the arrests of Turkish trade union leaders and several hundred trade union activists participating in the May Day rally at Taksim Square in Istanbul.
