2 hours warning strike all over the country
On 13 March 2008, The Labour Platform (Emek Platformu), which include 17 unions and chamber of profession of Turkey made a press statement to anounce the warning strike that they decided to do on 14 March 2008.
In the press statement there were 5000 people in Taksim Square. And also after the end of the work time workers were the in the centre of Gebze (which is plant area) for an other demonstration to manifest the new draft bill. The reason of the strike is the fundamental change that the gouverment wants to make about Social Security Systeme. With this change the inclusion of the social securtiy systeme will be reduced and it will leave people totally without guarantee and increase the iniquity. Some changes which will come with the new low:
- The age of retirement will increase.
- The wages of retirement will dicrease.
- Most of the health operations will be private.
- There will be a lot of additinal payment to access to the health services.
- And a lot of social lost.
The draft bill is very similar with to the example of France and Greece!
Today (14 March 2008) between 10.00 to 12.00 workers who are members of the Labour Platform instututions stoped working to warn the gouvernment. In DISK's and Birlesik Metal-Is plants the strike was put into practice %100. All members of DISK participated to the strike. In this time period there was demonstrations in a lot of city of the country.

General points of the draft bill
Dear Colleagues,
These are the very general points of the draft bill:
The Premium day will increase to 9000 days.
Today the age of retirement is 58 forwomen and 60 for men. They are trying to increse this ages to 65 for both women and men. This also means taht the Premium day will increse to 9000 days from 7000 days.
The the time of work to be entitled to the disablity and death salary is being heightened to 10 years from 5 years.
The minimum limit of money that the employer has to pay disabled workers (who had an work accident) is canceled.
The salaries of the retired people will only increse according to the inflation rates.
There is a very indefinite situation about the payement of the helath problems. For working people, retireds and old ages and survivors, the health payment will up to the decision of the menagement of the instutution.
There are a lot of changes in these sense which will make unsecure the helath insurance systeme . These which I wrote above are main parts. But the main idea of the draft bill is the liberalisation of the social security systeme.
This draft bill will mean that people could never be retired.
