The watchword of the 3rd EMF Congress, which is taking place in Lisbon on 6th & 7th June 2007, is “Solidarity”. The solidarity put in place by a strong European trade union federation capable of upholding its members’ interests by defending employment, social justice and democracy and contributing to the construction of Social Europe.

EMF elects new President and re-elects General Secretary and Deputy General Secretary

EMF Congress - Lisbon 6th & 7th June 2007

The EMF Congress, attended by some 500 persons opened 6 June at Lisbon’s famous Expo Centre. Participants included nearly 400 EMF delegates from 68 affiliated organizations in 33 European countries and some 75 international and local guests and observers.

Election results of EMF Congress

The first day of the EMF Congress ended with the election of its main office-holders for the next four years.

In the picture you see the new EMF President, Renzo Ambrosetti, President of Unia (CH), who has been an active member of the EMF Executive Committee and Collective Bargaining Policy Committee for many years.

Renzo Ambrosetti replaced retireing President Tony Janssen (ACV-Metaal - B)

It also re-elected Peter Scherrer (IG Metall – D) as EMF General Secretary and Bart Samyn (ABVV Metaal – B) as EMF Deputy General Secretary.
